Professional Services Engineer (Metro NYC area)
Whiting Consulting is looking for a Professional Services Engineer to be part of our client’s growing Professional Services organization. This position will be located in the Northeastern U.S., concentrating on the NYC Metro area, with responsibilities throughout the Eastern U.S.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Customer Activities: Customer meetings, presentations, requirements gathering, solution design and competitive positioning. Technical account and project management.
- Pilot Execution: Assist Sales Engineering team with pilot execution, perform pilots as needed, and provide second and third level expertise for sales engineering teams.
- Customer Support: Provide second and third level support for customer support organization.
- Customer Training: Manage customer training activities, including training material management and customer training delivery.
- Product Deployment: Engage in customer product deployment projects for full lifecycle of deployment, planning to completion.
- Value Added Services: Provide value added consultative services, such as automation processes, special projects and integration activities for customers as required.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in networking and security systems.
- Experience with customer facing activities (pre/post sale), as well as security and network consulting.
- Experience in risk assessment, risk management, risk consulting processes.
- Deep knowledge and hands on experience with network and security devices, especially Cisco, Juniper, Check Point.
- Knowledge of and experience with multiple vulnerability scanners, especially Qualys, nCircle IP360, Nessus, Retina Eye and others and alerting services such as Deep Sight, iDefense.
- 2+ years experience with Perl programming, XML and MySQL and/or 5+ years of other programming/scripting languages.
- Hands on System Administration skills and experience with Linux and Windows.
- Project Management skills.
- Experience with multiple security products.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, ability to work independently and with a group, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- CISSP highly desirable.
- Other security certifications desirable (GIAC, etc.).
- Network and security vendor certifications desirable (Cisco, Juniper etc.).
- BS Degree in relevant discipline(s) desirable.
